IN DIVINE AURA
The Full Story
Closing The Bones
Closing The Bones ceremony is rooted in Mexican tradition and is gifted to women after they have given birth, from around 10 weeks postpartum onwards.
In Mexico the midwifes, Doulas and Birth-keepers would go to the newly birthed woman's home and offer this beautiful and vibrantly rich ceremony to her, sealing what has opened up during her birthing process.
This time before 10 weeks is crucial and important for the just birthing mother to be alone with her baby as she will be going though her own inner process and bonding experiences.
After 10 weeks onwards the Mother can receive her ceremony for Closing The Bones.
The intention behind the ceremony is to literally Close The Bones of the birthing women both on a physical and energetic level as she has been opened up to the birthing portal and her hole body will be processing and navigating the experience she has just traveled though.
On a philosophical level, the Mother is able to take a moment of pause and focus herself, draw her awareness back inwards and release if she needs to, It helps her to integrate, draw herself back in, release stored tension, cleanse her body of possible toxins, align her pelvic bowl after opening to birth and ground her in to her body.
I travelled to Florianoplis in Brazil to attend a course called ART OF BIRTH hosted and birthed by Mexican Midwife, Doula and Birthkeeper Naoli Vinaver, were we dived deep into the pool and portal of birth, Rebozo massage and Closing The Bones ceremony.
This is a refection and offering from what I have learnt and journeyed with among the witnessing eye of Naoli and among many other doulas, midwifes and holistic therapists.
With Naolis permission and teachings I can offer this simple yet deeply profound ceremony of Closing The Bones, that I am humbled to offer this ritual in its cleanest and traditional form that will play a vital and important part during a mothers postpartum experience both for her mental and physical levels.
Some captures below of Naoli Vinaver in action teaching and of the Closing The Bones ritual. I am humbled to learn and experience the art and importance of Closing The Bones ceremony and learning from the roots of its linage.

DEVOTED
This beautiful ritual is devoted to the birthing women and for any women experiencing a threshold in their life. A day must be carved out so that you are able to drop in fully to the experience. Closing The Bones celebrates the significant transition from women to mother but also from daughter to young women or for all important stages of life (separation, grief, moving) It allows one stage of life to be closed to let a new one sprout.
For the birthing women, only if and when the mother is ready.
The closing of the bones with the Rebozos consists of tightening and loosing of the long Rebozos at 7 precise points of the body.
Gentle, meditate lullabies allows you to reconnect with your sensations.

VISION
A Hot herbal bath tea will be prepared for you, this has many herbs that help with cleansing and the healing process.
You can bathe in these waters and all the steam from these herbs to filter into your body in my steam room which I will bring along with me.
Traditionally the mother would enter a Temazkal, which is like entering the Womb of the mother.
You will receive a massage before your herbal bath and The Closing Of The Bones with Rebozos to close.
Its important not to rush afterwards.

"There is this cave in the Air behind her temple body
That nobody is going to touch
A cloister a silence
Closing around a blossom of Fire
Whence stands upright in the Winds
Her bones will return to Emeralds
Her blood returns to Soil
Planting seeds of Growth
As tall and around as Oak
Dancing like her hair is Water
Shimmer like the Kingfishers glitter
Sun kissed and Moon sweapt
Lying naked on the shores bed
Return to Bones
Land and Sea
My Body Temple again
Wild and Free"
