REBOZO

The rebozo symbolically represents the blanket that weaves our individual and collective destiny; it is the umbilical cord that unites us to the womb and our origin.”

The beautiful Rebozo, Traditionally known in Mexico as Cierre de Cadera, a textile shawl which is hand woven and dyed from veg leaves, so all colours and beautifully unique. Rebozos are traditionally used everyday in Mexico, by birth keepers, midwives, doulas & mothers, used to help relief weight and pain from pregnancy, carry babies, keep warm or shelter from the sun. It is also used as a tool to assist midwives and doulas while they are tending to pregnant women during labour, birth and postpartum. Mexican midwifes use Rebozos to do the "manteada" a massage technique were the women is rocked and shimmied in the hammock of the shawl to help ease aching back, the pressure, to help the pregnant women to relax, also to encourage the baby into a good birthing position in to the pelvis.

These tequniqes are also excellent for stiff joints, energy realise, womb alignment and tenson pain relief and I combine the Rebozo with many of my massage therapy's, with pulling, pulsing lifted and wrapping as well as Closing The Bones ceremony.

Rebozo massage for pregnant women is extremely beneficial on both a physical and energetic level. It helps the women to feel completely weightless, as she is cradled and rocked in the arms of the Rebozo. Each part of the body, including arms and legs are lifted from the ground and rocked, allowing tension to be  realised and full relaxation to take place.

The Mama receiving begins sat up right with two Rebozos cradled around her head, shoulders and full back, with a grounding feeling of being cocooned, she is gently swayed and guided down to the ground with the gentle touch, holding and rocking off the Rebozo.

There she is held and massaged using the Rebozo techniques on each part of the body to relive, feel weightless and ground.

I offer this to women as part of their Closing Of The Bones ceremony.

It's also open to those on a fertility journey and mamas who have been though a loss.

Its a gentle yet deeply effective and profound massage tequiniqe that has been birthed my Naoli Viner, Mexican Midwife and Doula.

I attended the course she facilitated called THE ART OF BIRTH in Brazil were many of us learnt the beauty of birth though conscious doula and midwifery work. We deepened our relationship and understanding of the Rebozo while learning from the root of its linage that is still very rich in Mexico Doula and Midwifery.
